We had a patio and cover designed and built by Ashworth in 2023. It turned out great and really added a new dimension to our home and gave us some great usable outdoor space.

We found the Sommers family / Ashworth Design all very easy to work with and honest. They are all local and have been in Kingwood for a long time. I was given their name from a friend who used Ashworth for a similar project 10-12 years ago, so they have a track record.

We had permitting issues with the City of Houston that Jason spent a lot of time and effort to get resolved, which he did. As a result, I have zero concerns about the engineering or issues with the City of Houston or inspections when the day comes that we sell the house. If your contractor is not getting permits…..well, I didn’t want that issue to be dealt with down the road.

The crews that did the work that Ashworth subcontracted were all very good, respectful of our access and property and carefully supervised. As part of the ‘design’ phase, Jason provided us with a rendering that showed areas of full sun and shade by day/hour/season, rather useful when building a project like a covered porch.

The best part of this project from my perspective is that the covered porch literally looks like it was part of the original construction. That was important to us as so many of these projects by other builders look like what they are – an addition that was built to cut costs and doesn’t fit the house. Yes, there are less expensive ways to go, but if I had to do it all over again I would not hesitate to go with Ashworth. Sometimes you do indeed get what you pay for.
